what specifically about trying to be vegan was hard for you? and even if it seems like some aspects are difficult at first, it can't be as bad as what the chickens who spend their lives in tiny cages and the cows that have their babies taken from them and sold for veal go through. so please think about how much it's worth it to go vegan.

i know that at first it may seem like a vegan diet islimiting, but there really are so many foods that are vegan that you don't have to feel like you have nothing to eat. think about all the basic foods that are vegan: rice, pasta, fruits, vegetables, many chips and crackers, many cereals, breads, beans, nuts, seeds, peanut butter...start looking around your kitchen at all of the options you already have. just check labels and as long as there aren't any animal products, it's vegan. there are many packaged foods that are vegan -- everything from Wheat Thins to Oreos. for lists of some common vegan packaged foods, check out: http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/ you can also make your own food. some great vegan recipe sites are vegweb.com and vegcooking.com -- or you can just google the name of a recipe that you want (even if it's for something non-vegan like mac and cheese) with the word "vegan" and you'll usually find many vegan recipe options. for going out to eat, you can look at the website happycow.net to search for restaurants in your area that are vegan, vegetarian, and veg-friendly. and most restaurants have some kind of vegan option -- and if they don't, just talk to your server and usually they're good about helping you figure out what things on the menu could be made vegan. you should also look at our journal on "tips for parents" -- it has some basic tips and info that may help you out, including info about dairy and egg alternatives. hope this helps a bit. i understand how you feel -- i was a vegetarian for a long time before being vegan -- but now i'm really glad that i decided to become vegan and i love food more than ever. and if you want a reminder of why it's worth it to go from being veg to vegan, please just check out this info about what's wrong with dairy and eggs: http://afa-online.org/docs/dairy_eggs.pd... please just let me know if you have any questions or if there's any other info that i can help you out with.
